There are two types of friendship,one general-when you like others,then they will also like you,when you help them they will also help you,this is ordinary one,give and take-like in business.
Now real friendship is very much different,you like your friend because you like him,no matter whether he likes you or not,but still you like him. For example, we love a sea or a mountain,not because mountain or sea loves us. We love mountain because our nature is to love. Similarly in good friendship we like others because we love them,not expecting any returns. We help them whether they help us or not. Love for its own sake is real friendship. Friendship with a man is friendship with his virtue,and does not admit any assumptions of superiority of any sort like-caste,sex,wealth,name and fame.
Among friendship,great friendship is marriage. Marriage brings love between two mortals merging into one,which is elegantly expressed in a Persian poem- “four eyes met-there where changes in two souls,and now i cannot remember whether he is a man and I am a woman,or he a woman and i am a man. There where two,love came and there is one ”
There are three kinds of love;selfish,mutual,and unselfish. The selfish love is the lowest. It only looks towards our own happiness,no matter whether the beloved suffers bad or good. This is self-center love. In mutual love,the lover not only wants the happiness of his/her beloved,but has an eye towards his/her own happiness also. This is business love. The unselfish love is of the highest kind. The lover aims only the welfare of the beloved. So when you are interested in happiness of the others more than your own then it is true love. Only true lover is fit enough to be said as Goodman/Good woman. Only a good man/good woman can become real friend or good husband or wife. Goodness is called spirituality. Love others more than yourself is called goodness,if you can find out such a person with true virtues either as your friend,partner,or teacher, then you are extremely lucky. Prophet Mohammad Nabi exclaimed,about three objects which is difficult in to obtain in real life:
1.Tongue that prays
2.Thankful heart
3.Faithful partner
So from all these we are getting an idea that real friendship or unselfish love,is the most rare thing happens in life. Because an ordinary friend breaks the friendship,if we argue with him or if we talk something which he doesn't like. A real friend still keeps in touch with you even after the fight. An ordinary friend expects you to be always with him in his crisis. A real friend wont mind if otheris with him in his crisis or not!Real friend treats his friend equally in dodging orintimacy. A real friend consolidates you and brings back your smile when you are sad. Your strength when you are disappointed,an adviser when you are loosing your grip in life,an enchanting melody in happiness. A Tide when you lack pace,yacht in isolation,and an everlasting help in the swings of ups and downs.
Real friendship/Unselfish love is hard to happen because these things are easily said but infinitely difficult to practice. Most people are interested only in speaking than action hence never put these into practice. Flowery words without action are like a flower which has color and form but never has its fragrance and freshness.
