Controversial issue of textbooks-3

2. Should we give importance to a school text for religious identity?

The school text was prepared for the kids to study. But now it is the elders who studied it more than kids!! i don't think any one will remember and follow anything which he studied in schools, particularly when it comes to religious issues. Majority of kids studies school books only for obtaining marks. When years are rolled by, none will even remember it seriously. I don't even remember what i have studied in class 7 or 10. it is forgotten now. One cannot shape his character by studying text books at any point of time. in addition that the contents of the books are subject to change all the time.

The science I have studied in the last 20 years and the science kids study now are not the same. The theories are subject to change as long as new discoveries happen. And modern kids even study that, what we studied was wrong and baseless. A kid who studied that (baseless theory) got a A grade, and the modern kid who studies that old theory was baseless also gets an A grade. In the future the most modern kid will study that the theory the kids studied in this year was baseless and grab another A grade. So how can you give importance to studies in schools for forming a sound character?

Moreover, if the kid is studying that there is no need of religion. Then why can't the religious fraternity or family members teach the child that- what text books teaches now about religion is wrong? The best way to counter ignorance is not by protests or strikes but by knowledge. If you look at the history of religion, you can see that prophets countered the nonbelievers by teaching them wisdom. Its by the wisdom they got followers not by violence. Violence or mass rallies were not their ways to enlighten the mass . They preached wisdom to the masses, and those who understood those teachings even a little took it and became followers. Therefore if the text book is teaching ignorance then mentors have the right to overcome it by wisdom. Why can't they do it? If they can't counter it by wisdom, then they should keep quiet and earn more wisdom to counter weakness and after teach their kids or religious fraternity that the school text they read was baseless.

Finally, they should at least have the faith in the concept of their religion. Because if the religions have said truth then it can't be outdated or it can't be neglected by a false propaganda. A truth never has become false, if it is repeated a thousand times as false. Similarly a false thing has never transcended to become truth, if its repeated a thousand times. Do they believe in their holy books or pretend to believe it??? If they believe in their holy texts then why these scholars making stirs for countering a false propaganda which will evade as time rolls on...

Children are school during most of their lives. Parents are working during most of their lives. While I do not believe government schools should be teaching religion they nonetheless should not be teaching against religion. This is problem.

MOST of secular education is opposed to essential religious truth. Secular science and education does not support the Vedic histories and so on. By saying your religions do not matter but what we teach you does they are denying the religions of their past.

How this can be remedied is not clear but school should be required not to intentionally undermine religious teaching.

I think homeschooling and schooling in the mandirs are best.

The government of India, like those in almost all other non-Muslim countries, is promoting Secular Humanism as the world religion. This SHOULD be stopped.

Parents who care about their children and their religion and their national sovereignty shold immediately pull their children out of the public school systems
