Why we are happy?

Buddha said ¨Mind precedes all mental states. Mind is their chief; they are all mind wrought. If with a pure mind one speaks or acts, happiness follows one like one's never-departing shadow¨

Mind controls life. Just like a driver controls his vehicle, the mind controls a person. His good and bad deeds are under the compulsion of mind. Attitude determines the function of the mind. A righteous can´t act selfishly. If ones basic attitude is to do good, he do good irrespective of circumstances. On the contrary, if the basic attitude is selfishness; then he is vulnerable to good and bad deeds as per situations unfold. Thus its obvious that actions are propelled by attitudes and attitudes directs the mind.

Peaceful living is possible only when mental attitude is strong. Strong mental attitude depends upon on good deeds. Mortals become fearless by consistently performing good deeds. Only those, termed as strong are those who are fearless. One who abstained from doing good wont be fearless. One may seems fearless from the outward glitter, but that fearlessness is only a fiction, because one can fool others but not himself. He will be aware of his wrong doing without any doubt. Hence that boldness is more of an ignorance than wisdom. Its like a bubble which can burst at any moment.
On the other hand, fearless of a righteous sprouts from wisdom. Its a conviction germinated as a result of behaving nothing wrong. When one have not done anything wrong, then whom will he fear? Pain mostly, is an outcome of guiltiness from wrong doing. Absence of fears to an extend is the absence of pain. Happiness shines when the shadow of pain cast off.

The psychological difference between the righteous and untruthful, is this fearless aroused from wisdom. Light of Wisdom never sets. Shadow appears and sustain only when there is light. Darkness is the sign of Ignorance thereby wont prevail in radiance. Glory of righteous basks forever like a shadow sustained by light. When one do good deeds all the time, he feels the happiness of doing it, this happiness will endure, till he turn his back to goodness.
