Every one has the potential to become divine, the problem lies in whether we like to use it or not. Just like there is only one sun, one air, one sky, one fire, one moon, and one form of water existing in different forms. As is the creation so is the creator; unique and have one form in different shapes.
God can have form and also he can be formless, like the wind- form and formless. The duality of god and yourselves are not two entities, when you are perfect you are god- Tatvamasi.. The saint Catherine of Jenova has said- there is no God than I, so is the declaration of other religions. Clarity of truth lies in practice and truth is relevant for only those who reach perfectness by constant practice.
Why should we become perfect? Christ said- because our heavenly father is perfect. so to reach "god state' you have to become perfect. To reach the perfectness is the greatest difficulty- Mohammad Nabi said- the greatest jihad is to conquer yourself. So this is the message- are you ready for that? are you ready for that great preparation? That is what Vedanta exclaims and the road as Upanishads said- “sharp like a razor, hard to walk”. Even though its hard, still there is no other way. As swami Vivekananda said- the only solution for the world is unworldliness. So we have to travel this sublime journey irrespective of the hardships.
